Sol Kim is a climate scientist with a particular interest in weather/climate extremes. His research has focused on various aspects of atmospheric rivers, heat waves, and droughts. He holds a PhD in Geography from UC Berkeley and Bachelor degrees in Geography and Society & Environment also from UC Berkeley. Before joining UTL, he worked with earth observations at NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab and conducted independent research through a Fulbright grant in Finland.
